Thank God You're Here

Does any of u guys watch this show? This is my favourite Australian TV show..they just started the fourth season 4 weeks ago and I only managed to watch 1 episode..It's all because of the group study!
Last Wednesday, I was excited that we're not having the group study only to find myself falling asleep from 530pm-9pm!!Effah did wake me up when TGYH started(at 730pm) & I thought I just wanna have a bit more sleep but as you would expect out of me - I didn't!

TGYH is a comedy show..I never watched Whose Line Is It Anyway? but people said that it has pretty much the same concept as TGYH. This show involve contestants walking through a door, dressed in appropriate costume (somestimes totally inappropriate!), into an unknown situation and greeted by the line "Thank God you're here!". They then had to improvise their role through the scene. The contestants are usually comedians, actors or broadcasters..They have to respond to questions (related to the scene) asked by other ensembled casts. The ensemble cast, even though they were given scripts, they still have to tailor their script depending on how the contestant are doing. It is really challenging!!Sometimes they are asked to sing, dance or spontaneously come up with a poem..At the end of the show, the judge will select a winner who will be awarded a TGYH trophy...

My favourite contestant is Hamish Blake and I also recommend Angus Sampson, Frank Woodley, Shaun Micallef, Arj Barker & Akmal Saleh..
Try watching these..see if you like it!!

I forgot to tell you that at the end of the show they also have an all in group challenge where all of the four contestants will be in one scene and they have to try their best to shine..these are the examples..

Owh..they also have footage in which the contestants perform a challenge on location which was filmed earlier.
If u guys don't like the previous ones, watch this last one..please...

What do u guys think?Best kan??please say yes...the Aussies love this show very much..I love them too....When I first came here, I couldn't quite understand why they have comedy week, comedy festival..now I'm starting to enjoy them as well..heheh
I'm sorry there are too many clips..I thought of putting 2 or 3 but I just can't decide...

Pact

If you're a frequent visitor of my blog you might have noticed that I haven't been updating my blog since a week ago..

Exam is coming in 3 weeks' time and I'm slowly becoming aware of how big of a deal it is..(even though I haven't started preparing)

Knowing how badly-prepared I always been in exams throughout my whole life..I decided that I had to do something about this...

That's how I came up with this! I've made a pact with a friend that everyday until the exam, I should set an achievable target, and until I have achieved my daily target, I won't be ym-ing or skype-ing or even sms-ing with that friend or updating my blog...

Within the past 5 days, there were times when I stick to the pact and times when I cheated(I almost accomplish my mission, but then I get bored & stopped or I purposely did not set a target at the start of the day & only after I had dinner then only I decided what my target is)...anyway, even when I cheated, I did achieve something in those days..my time didn't just go wasted as it has always been..it still is better than nothing..I still think this is a good idea..

I remember from our behavioural change project in 2nd yr, Prof Jones said that we should make the change public in order for us to commit...that's why I have been writing about things I wished to do..so far it never worked on me...Anyway, let's have faith on this one!

Jon...lagi

Last Tuesday, Jon & me were assigned to go to Paeds Gastro Clinic...I was 5mins late, but the doctors only came 25mins later..when I arrived at the clinic, I saw Jon sitting in the waiting room..with a new haircut which makes him even more good-looking..I sat in front of him and we had a chat about what we did yesterday...and then he moved to sit next to me so as not to annoy other people who might be listening to our conversation...(yayy!)

We had to split, Jon went with Tom, the consultant, and me with Lito, the registrar...When Jon was about to leave the clinic, I overheard Tom saying to Jon, "You'll do well, You're good with patients n parents"...I know Jon is natural with kids, Tom just confirmed that!!another plus point!!...(If only Jon is a Muslim & a Malay)...

On Thursday afternoon, I was again assigned to go to urology clinic with Jon but once I got home..I just don't feel like going anymore..I decided to text him as he has always been nice to let me know whenever he's not coming, not that he had to...
"Hey jon, I just wanna let u know I'm not going to urology clinic, trying to get EBCP done..haha"
"Haha, I was just about to msg you. I have a bedside tute! No worries."

As for today, I met Jon again in Ethics tute..I've never seen him in jeans!in fact skinny one!I always think that guys wearing skinny jeans is a turn off, but on Jon..he does look yummy!hahahaha

Peristiwa Semalam

"Hey Muni. My mom had a fall and split her head open yesterday. I'm home to look after her. I can possibly go in Sunday night if you would like. Or if one of the other girls want to go tonight... Cheers jon"

Sedemikianlah sms dari Jon memberitahu bahawa die tidak dpt bersama sy di ED (Emergency department or known as ER in the US) smalam...lalu sy pon berpk2 pjg & bersetuju utk pergi bersame Xin Yin..tp setelah pulang ke rumah utk dinner & smayang maghrib...sy telah mkn dgn byknye lalu mule merasionalkan diri bahawa sy xde laa perlu sgt pegi ED...bende2 yg sy kene buat tuh sumenye bleh buat time kat ward or tute..sy hanye perlu menyiapkan satu discharge summary or letter & dua observed clinical examination...sudahnye, sy pon x pegi ED!!

Dengan rase agak bersalah terhadap Xin Yin, sy pon text die dgn berkate,

"Xin yin, I'm feeling so full after a heavy dinner that I don't feel like going. Is there a lot happening?R U ok by urself?I might still just go"...

(sebenarnye mase nih dh pkol 615 n kalo ikot timetable kitorg kene g ctu pkol 5-9pm tp since maghrib 520pm, I would rather smayang maghrib dulu br pegi pon...which would be around 530pm)

15mins kemudian, Xin Yin pon mereply dgn berkate,

"Haha.Yeah I was, it's alright. I'm leaving already tho. But there's lots happening :) if u're interested :)"

sebagai org yg membace blog sy skali skale korang rase sy pegi x?

seminit kemudian sy mereply,

"Hehe..alright..I'm not going then..."

Jadi skang nih sy ade laa gak cita2 nk g ED on sunday kalo Jon pegi..tp at the moment 50-50 aa nk pegi ke x tuh..ehehhehehe

Mom & I

I haven't dedicated a Mother's Day entry for my mom yet...Well I don't wanna be typical, so I waited till Monday to write an entry for my mom (in actual, I had busy Sunday yesterday)...but still, we shouldn't only remember our mothers on this day only, but I guess it's good that we have mother's day because we can have mother's day sale, mother's day gifts, mother's day movies..u name it..(chances are people might not give presents to their mothers if there is no such a day)..

This is a picture of my mom & my elder sis which was taken almost 2 years ago..as most people would agree she is the one who takes after the most compared to me n my younger sis!

What I'd like to talk is about the difference between mom & me as well as the similarities..

(Ermm before that I should tell u that I call her Emel instead of Mak, Mama etc...Emel was actually derived from Mama yg Comel...but I do still refer to her as Mi, Ma etc...)

So the differences:

1) She has small eyes, while mine aren't.

2) She's a hottie while I'm not. She has many admirers since she was young up until now and she always wonders why I never mentioned that I have admirers but I do talk about my friends' admirers. She couldn't comprehend why I dont have any while she was pretty famous during her university days (well, even now).

3) She has fair skin while I'm no way near fair. When she look at her friends whom aren't fair but the children are, she always questions how come we all take after my dad's skin& not hers.

4) My mom has always been underweight when she was younger and within normal range these days but I'm always at the upper end of normal and sometimes even slightly overweight. I might end up obese once I have children being my fat self at the moment (What a scary possibilty)

5) My mom is really good at sports and games. Let it be chess, high jump, netball, volleyball, basketball, badminton, table-tennis, swimming. I'm hopeless!!(I take after my dad in this too)

6) My mom is a leader (a good one indeed) & I'm a follower. She is a principal who is always on top of things. She's the kind who answers questions in classes or volunteers to lead the group and I'm the kind who keep quiet and curse the leaders behind their back.

7) She's the prim & proper type. She wouldn't let anyone see her weaknesses and I am the complete opposite. I am the clumsy type - I'm a doctorate in spilling foods or drinks on clean table/carpet/floor & falling (I don't need wet floors or stairs to do that!)

8) My mom doesn't cook and I'm pretty proud of my cooking skills. I don't bake but I love to cook. When I was young I always ask my mom if she knew how to cook certain food and her answer is always, "I've never made that but theoretically, you would need.....". Yes, she only knows how to cook things theoretically.

9) My mom is not adventurous. She couldn't understand why I went climbing Mount Kinabalu, skydiving, bungy-jumping etc. My mom is the kind who would definitely go for the indulgence & luxury type of holiday rather than the adventures.

10) Mom doesn't eat spicy foods at all. I love chillies! I don't mind getting runny nose or diarrhoea because of it.

The similarities:

1) There's a few things that I take after her anatomically. Mom said I have her lips.

2) We enjoy sewing clothes. It is one of the activities that we do together over the holidays.

3) We are both good with numbers. In terms of memorising them or thinking of the relationship between the numbers e.g: car's plate.

Mom & me (Mom said she looks like me in this photo. I'm not sure where about exactly)

Hmm...there must be more..but I'm running out of ideas. I've asked my sister to think of this and her first answer was sewing..which is what I have already written down...and after she put some thoughts to it, she came up with the numbers..

I love you Emel!!

Jon yg Kacak

Entry nih mmg kene tules dlm bahase melayu...takot laa terbukak blog kat hospitalnye computer pastu ade kat history ke...

Sesungguhnye nih one of my entries yg x berfaedah..this time tujuannye utk membuang mase bercerite pasal kehenseman groupmateku yg bernama Jonathan Priestley itu...maybe aku terpengaruh setelah membace entries by Koyan & Kak Long Yaya yg bercerite pasal Wolverine or more more precisely about the actors..so ape kaitan Jon ngan Hugh Jackman??ahahaha...xde pon..or maybe ade...they are both Aussies..n they are both tall..Hugh Jackman mungkin x setinggi Jon..Jon 6'4, Hugh Jackman 6'2 kot...

Sebenarnye aku teringat pasal Jon nih sbb lately die selalu muncul dlm conversation kitorg(ecehh...die plak dipersalahkan kerana kemunculannye)..sbb b4 this x ramai org knal die..sbb die defer 3rd yr..lepas presentations "Contemporary Isues in Children Health" tuh Jon sudah mule dikenali oleh bdak2 melayu yg lain...dlm our group presentation, Jon jadi budak homeless n me berlakon jadi paediatrician..pastu di akhir scene tuh Jon berkate, "She seems nice...Can she be my doctor?"...ohoho...sungguh mencairkan hati ini...(sebenarnye x pon, sbb aku tgh nervous, x sempat pon nk menghayati whatever he was saying)...anyway, bile kitorg abes present tuh I went back to my seat which was next to Effah & Cai, mereka berdua nih tersenyum2..aku ingatkan ape laa...rupe2nye, diorg tengah terpegun melihat Jon...mereka sependapat mengatakan Jon ini rupenye ade iras2 seperti Edward Cullen Twilight tuh...(kalo korang x ingt muke Edward Cullen bleh refer Koyan punye entry pasal Tips Mengorat Gadis..kalo malas nk carik kat archive, bleh google tros Tips Mengorat Gadis)...malahan die dikatakan lebih kacak dari itu...dh laa die jenis yg suke senyum...mmg x perlu laa gune tips2 Koyan tuh..ramai gadis dh head over heels tgk senyuman die je...

Owh...selain dr mase presentation tuh..there was another time when I had to act with him..mase nih kitorg attend paediatric simulation centre...simulation tuh utk doctors, midwives n nurses...the way they did it is they have scenarios in which they newborn baby doesn't breathe..diorg gune dummy laa jd baby tuh..dummy yg bleh disetkan heart rate, respi rate etc..& bleh jugak diresuscitate...dlm scenario yg first tuh, the consultant called 2 med students utk berlakon skali...kebetulan I was standing next to her, tepakse laa pegi...Jon & me disuro blakon jd husband n wife...I baru gave birth to the baby n Jon plak dok sebok dgn his handycam, merakamkan those magical moments...Jon sungguh pandai berlakon n takes his character seriously...I plak sgt malu dan tersipu2 melihat pandangan mesranye itu...plus gaye risau die melihat dummy yg x bernafas...die menjadi bapak yg sgt persistent mahu merakamkan suasana cemas itu...every now n then, he turned to me n said, "Don't worry, our baby is fine"..ahahahah...

Semalam plak Jon skali lagi muncul dlm perbualan aku ngan A*** di usrah weekly gathering...A*** pnah same hospital ngan Jon last year...A*** kate Jon mmg sgt baik..pnah skali tuh A*** menangis kerana tutornye sgt sarcastic..lalu mase tute petang tuh A*** pon x pegi laa sbb still bersedih laa kan..Jon nih mencari A*** dan memberitahu bahawa die berpendapat A*** di pihak yg benar...A*** menambah lg dgn mengatakan bahawa Jon seorang yang suke bg encouragement..statement nih mmg benar...mase kitorg prektis utk presentation tuh Jon berkate,"that was good Muni"...

Satu lg plus point Jon nih...kalo kitorg ade tutorial at the last minute or nk wat group meeting ke, die laa yg akan call aku...nk harapkan Vik...no way!!

kalo laa aku ade gamba Jon, akan kuletakkan di sini...nnt aa bile2 ade peluang utk bergambar dgn Jon sudah pasti entry ini akan diupdate...

Anyway, this coming 4 weeks, I will be at Monash Medical Centre (MMC)..yahoo!!!x payah naik bas or tumpang Lare or Kak Adib or Kak Nailah etc...bleh jln kaki..bangun tdo pon bleh laa 15mins b4 start klas...kitorg x dpt lagi list new groupmates...harap laa dpt satu group ngan Jon...chances are kitorg mmg akan satu group sbb kalo ikot list his name is above mine...kalo x satu group tuh mmg nmpk sgt xde jodoh....

PS: Ermm...to whom it may concern-I might talk endlessly about how good looking or nice this mat salleh or that Pak Arab MUIS (Monash University Islamic Society), but I only fall for Malay guys!!Ameen..

Brother 'Hot Cake'

Yayy!!

Finally I got a new printer...after my third visit to 2 Officeworks stores, they finally have this product in store..apparently it's one of the hot-selling products at the moment...

It's Brother HL-2142 Compact High Quality Mono Laser Printer...

I'm now one step towards being more organised with my studies..I hope..

So excited to get to know this printer...how to print on both sides of paper etc...

opss..it's already 4 mins to 2am..I should go to bed..anyway, I don't feel bad not sleeping at this time as I am now skype-ing with my younger sist...n I'm actually listening to her memorising her notes on anti-emetic(I'm studying indirectly)...I'm so grateful being a med student at monash..not having to know much details about all these drugs...but I just listen to her anyway...

I love listening to your voice my dear...sgt manje!!miss u so much!!

I forgot to mention...It was my elder sist birthday last Tuesday...she turned 25 this year!!(somehow that sounds old maybe because I'm thinking of how petite she is)...I wish her all the best & may she find her significant other sometime soon...If u readers know anyone eligible...do let me know!ahahhaahha...

Bile Headprefect Suro Aku Check Her Case Report

Ahahha...
I'm running out of ideas actually...
I remembered Koyan's entry entitled something like, "Bile Headprefect kate aku geek"...
I just spent 30mins of my time reading through my headprefect's 2000words case report...
Not that I had done anything much with her well-written report (as what you would expect out of the best student) but it does feel good being offered the opportunity to correct her work..ahahahha

Elective

Finally we got our elective & vacation allocation for next yr..which is our final yr...
I can't believe how fast time flies...I'm almost there..but I still don't know anything...please don't ask me any medical questions..I'm the worst med student ever alive...

I should first explain how our rotations in final year works...we have 7 rotations altogether...each is of 6 weeks duration..(6wks X 7 =42wks)..out of the 7 rotations, one is for elective & one is for vacation(yahoo!!)...elective is something that u can do anywhere in the world...

As a guide to you readers and myself:
Rot 1: 25/01 - 05/03
Rot 2: 08/03 - 16/04
Rot 3: 19/04 - 28/05
Rot 4: 31/05 - 09/07
Rot 5: 12/07 - 20/08
Rot 6: 23/08 - 01/10
Rot 7: 04/10 - 12/11

In previous years, Monash gave students the chance to choose when they want their vacation to be (not every requests are fulfilled)..most people would want their vacation to be around rotation 4, 5 & 6 which is in the middle of the yr...starting from my batch, we no longer given the opportunity to choose...instead, the university will allocate our vacation & elective as a 12-week block (6wks+6wks) and we would have the freedom as to when we would like to do our 6 weeks elective as long as it is within that 12 week period..

I am allocated to have my elective on rotation 1 & my vacation is on rotation 7 which isn't what I wished for...I would prefer my vacation and/or elective to be around july, august, sept (rot 5 & 6) so that I will be home when my sister is on her summer break...apart from the fact that Eid also falls at that time(It has been 4 yrs since I last celebrate Eid with my family in Malaysia)!

I'm looking for someone to swap but I'm sure no one would give away their rot 5 & 6...I might be able to swap with someone who gets rot 2 &3 or 3 & 4..but I'm not sure if that's a better choice than my rot 1 & 7..

Next question is where should I do my elective? Sabah? Sarawak? Terengganu? JB?IJN?...
mmmm...Fiji?Tahiti?UK?Indonesia?Cambodia?NZ?Alice Spring?....Let's not make things more complicated, focus on Malaysia...I'm penniless!!

Who should I go with??alone?(I might found someone if I were to go by myself...maybe some single intern or HMO or consultant??(no2...))...with someoneelse??but whom??

Which specialty I'd like to focus on? Plastic surgery? Paeds surgery? Infectious disease? gen med? or if I wanna go to IJN..I should consider cardiology? cardiothoracic surgery? paeds cardio surg?

While I spent my night thinking of my elective...what I should actually be thinking is how am I gonna pass Children Health first...there won't be any electives if I can't get through 4th yr...

but still, we should organised the elective ourselves...n it may take months to get an approval from the institution...we can't wait till 4th yr is over before we start planning...

Any inputs??
